The Process

Wondering how this all works? Let this guide walk you through it.

Consultation:

We get to know each other over a quick chat and see if we make a good team. This is your time to ask questions about doula support and how it look in practice.

Booking:

I only take 3 birth clients per calendar month to give each client individualized attention. To reserve your spot, a 50% deposit is due at the time of contract signing. All of this can be done electronically.

Welcome:

You are now a member of the Mommy’s Helper community! You have access to my resources, lending library, and the support of your doula. Now is the time to work on your Birth Plan Worksheet to get an idea of what your preferences look like.

Prenatal Meeting #1

Within the comfort of your own home or via zoom, we will discuss your birth preferences and answer any questions you may have. To ease your comfort in labor, we will go over breathing and position options. No matter what happens in labor, these tools will come in handy!

Prenatal Meeting #2

Around 36 weeks, we will go through your Postpartum Planner Worksheet and discuss all things recovery and newborn care. We will also go over my doula goodie bag and discuss all the pain relieving tools for labor. This is also when the remainder of your fee is due.

Birth:

From the time you request me, you have unlimited access to doula support until you are settled in after baby is born (around 2 hours post-birth). Most clients call in active labor when they’re ready to go to the hospital or birth center, but the decision is up to you, when you want support I’ll be there!

Postpartum Visit:

Within the first two weeks, I will come to your home to check on your well being. Ask any questions you have about infant feeding, sleep, or just take time to debrief your birth and discuss this new world of motherhood.
